Tennessee Trip
This week Tyler & I flew to Tennessee to visit my parents. We have had a wonderful time just visiting and relaxing.
On Sunday we took a wonderful drive through the Cherokee National Forest. It sure was beautiful and I can not wait to go back in the Spring. We stopped along a river that ran along the road to take a few pictures.
On Monday my mom, Tyler & I went to Sweetwater to check out the antique stores. (I think I am the luckiest wife ever....my husband likes to go to antique stores!!) We were on the great Blue Ridge Pottery hunt! (I always am on the GBRPH!) Blue Ridge Pottery is a type of china that was hand crafted & painted here in eastern Tennessee, Erwin to be exact. Erwin is also where my dad grew up as a young boy. My grandmother (his mom) & my great-aunts worked in the Southern Potteries factory hand painting plates, bowls, platters, vases, etc. For most of my life my mom has searched and collected Blue Ridge Pottery. She has a BEAUTIFUL collection!
Now in my adult life I have also caught the "bug" of collecting the beautiful dishes and often find myself in antique stores on the hunt. As you can imagine, Tennessee is a GREAT place to find the goods! I found a great bowl with plaid flowers!

On Tuesday, my mom, Tyler & I went to the Mayfield Dairy Plant and toured the production line.
We first watched a short movie about the Mayfield family and their grow to be one of the largest dairy's in the Southeast. After that we donned our hair nets and entered the factory. (we were unable to take pictures inside)
Lucy headed to work on the candy line! LOL |
Me and Santa!! |
Inside we saw where they make all the milk jugs. In this plant they not only make Mayfield Yellow milk jugs, but the jugs that are for private labels like Save-A-Lot & Great Value! We then followed the plastic jugs along a conveyor to the bottling plant. There we saw Great Value whole milk being labeled and filled. We also saw True Moo Chocolate milk being bottled. I was very surprised by how clean the faciltiy is. (I am not sure what I was expecting) Also we learned that none of the jugs or cartons are touched by the human hands until their are loaded onto the trucks for distribution.
After the tour we stopped at the ice cream counter and had us some Mayfield ice cream. (they also make ice cream in the plant) It was wonderful!

Oh and here are a few facts we learned about cows before we started our tour...
Tuesday night we went out to dinner for my birthday. It was a great dinner and I enjoyed spending a few more hours talking with my mom and dad. We got dessert to go and ate it at home.(we had eaten way to much a dinner to fit it in there!) Tomorrow Tyler & I head home. I can not wait to come back for another visit. I think next time we are going to Gatlinburg!

AdiĆ³s California!
Well, today we say farewell to California. We have had a great adventure while here, but I hope I don't have to come back anytime soon! We pulled out of the campground about 9:00 this morning headed for Colorado. We hooked up the camper to the truck last night and disconnected all the hoses so all we had to do this morning was pull the slides in!
Here is my favorite shot....the back of the camper leaving the campground!!
Tyler and I have decided to make a list of all the things we will miss/not miss in California.
Let's start with the things we will miss..
- Weather
- In & Out Burger
- Weather
- People that we made friends (work & campground)
- Weather
Things we will NOT miss...
- The people
- CHP
- The f'ing sand
- Diesel prices
- The wind
- The price of everything...lol

Last Supper
Tonight we had our last meal with friends in California. We went to the little airport in Cal City to have all you can eat catfish. I know what you are thinking..."fried catfish in California?!?!" Yes, fried catfish in California and it is very good.

Merry Christmas!!
We would like to wish all our friends and family a very Merry Christmas!!
Christmas this year is a bit bitter sweet. Tyler did have 4 days off work, but we are so far from any of our family and airfare is so expensive, we were unable to go home.
All week I have been listening to Christmas music in the camper. "I'll Be Home for Christmas" played quite often and it has never hit home like it has this year. The lyric "I'll be home for Christmas...if only in my dreams" rings so true for us. To our families- I know we aren't together this year, but we are together in our thoughts, our hearts and our dreams! We love you!!
Okay, I am now down with my holiday pitty party.
Since we didn't go home for Christmas we headed to San Diego!! On Christmas Eve we went to the world famous San Diego Zoo! What an amazing place. It is by far the BEST zoo I have ever been to. We saw panda bears, zebras, cheetahs, elephants and every other animal you could think of. I will try an get that post done ASAP.
Christmas Day we will return to SeaWorld. They have special Christmas shows with the animals. We are very excited about that.
Again we would just like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!
Love,
Tyler & Sarah

Thanksgiving
We had a very nice Thanksgiving this year. It was a little sad not being able to spend it in Texas with Jack & Amanda or with either of our families, but we were able to spend it with great friends.
We gathered at Tyler's bosses house with some of the other coworkers who were unable to make it home this year.
The night before Tyler stayed up most of the night smoking a turkey. And let me tell you it was amazing!! For me, the day before Thanksgiving was spent baking pies. I made 2 pecan and 2 of my grandmother Rose's pumpkin pies. They were delish!!
Chris and I spent the day in the kitchen cooking while everyone else cheered for their favorite football team. As Thanksgiving tradition goes...we all ate way to much and had way to many leftovers!!
I am very thankful we had a great group of friends to spend this holiday with. I am also thankful that I have been able to spend this year traveling with my wonderful husband. It is such a blessing we have been able to do this together!!
**okay so this app I am using to post this post is not very user friendly when adding pictures. I am sure they will be in some random order without captions. I will try to get captions posted as soon as I get our computer fixed. =o)
